Top pick: #7 (SATURDAY'S GIRL) (3-1) - Nice effor here in an "off the turf" contest Nov 17 saw her break slowly and rally late while racing between horses to finish 3rd. Race was her first in 13 1/2 months and she'll be making back-to-back starts for the firts time.
2nd pick: #2 (Sydney's Darling) (5-2) - The probable favorite, she returns off a late March layoff and when in action last winter she was competive in all 4 starts (each a grass sprint). Working fine for comeback attempt and an obvious threat if ready.
3rd pick: #4 (Corinthian Melody) (3-1) - Daughter of "Corinthian" rallied to finish 2nd when debuting going "down the hill" at Santa Anita Oct 21st, then ran wide and evenly here going a miile Nov 23. She's worked fast since, trainer Mike Pender shortens her up in distance, and it's Valdivia off and Bejarano on. Contends today.
4th pick: #9 (My Mammy Heat) (15-1) - Longshot had some issues at the start last out racing on the "all weather" and tired after rushing up to contest the pace. Race was her first in 7 1/2 months and trainer Barry Abrams moves her back to the turf for her 2nd back off the long layoff.
