Top pick: #10 (SOLID SOUTH) (5-1) - He draws a tough outside post, but well-bred gelding enters in great form and comes off a troubled third-place finish here at this level and distance April 28th. One-run type was running off a seven week freshening that day and it was his first ever on a synthetic surface. Trainer Marty Jones gives him a rider upgrade tp Garret Gomez and this 4-year-old by "Dixie Union" gets the call in a "wide open" conteat.
nd pick: #3 (Penny Maker) (9-2) - Beautifully-bred colt rallied to finish second here at this level on April 28th and defeated "South" by 1 1/2 lengths that afternoon. That was a career best by this son of "Empire Maker" and trainer Eoin Harty adds blinkers for the first time.
rd pick: #2 (Two Term Leader) (6-1) - Florida shipper was a very sharp maiden winner on the Tampa Bay grass on April 14th and that was this home-breds first ever with blinkers. In a very good barn (Tom Proctor) and he's worked this grey gelding four times since he came cross country.
th pick: #9 (R S Watson) (4-1) - Three-year-old went gate-to-wire to break his maiden here at this trip on April 25th. The "figure" earned was the highest any of these has ever run and this lightly raced colt still has room for upside.
th pick: #8 (Beast of Bourbon) (12-1) - He also comes off a sharp maiden win when he rallied from close range at Santa Anita when going 7 furlongs on real dirt April 20th. In a very patient barn (Ron Ellis) and this gelding has room for upside.
