Top pick: #4 (R S WATSON) (3-1) - Lightly-raced colt was away slowly and also had some traffic issues when rallying to finish fourth on the Santa Anita grass facing special weights on April 7th in his first start since late Oct. He's worked since and trainer Adam Kitchingham drops him a bit and moves him to the all weather surface. A rider upgrade to Maldonato indicates the barn likes his chances.
2nd pick: #1 (King Maya) (5-2) - Lightly-raced colt comes off a career best when he finished third of 12, beaten a 1/2 length at Santa Anita in late Sept. Working well for the Cerin barn, 4-year-old has the rail and Bejarano is back on the re-ride.
3rd pick: #5 (Magnum Force) (3-1) - No-speed type has run well here in the past (2-0-1-1) and trainer Marty Jones will drop him out of Cal.-bred special weight contests into an "open" $40K claimer. The faster the pace, the better his chances.
4th pick: #6 (Milk Man Ray) (6-1) - "Ray" has a bit of speed and will be going turf to "poly" for owner/trainer Rog Stein. Gelding ran an even 3rd here last Dec. facing weaker and could grab a share wth his best.
