Top pick: #3 (BRANNAMAN) (2-1) - The probable favorite, $500,000 gelding by "Ghostzapper" just hasn't ever panned out and trainer Bob Baffert will drop him into a claimer for the first time. He has the best early speed of this field and will be tough to beat on the front end.
2nd pick: #5 (Captain Corrigan) (4-1) - Lightly-raced gelding may have been "best" last out as he had a very wide trip and was only beaten 1 1/2 lengths racing at this tag and trip at Santa Anita April 21st. This will be his first on a "poly" surface, but he's stable here and trains fine on it.
3rd pick: #4 (Tucker's Point) (5-1) - Price play ships from Oaklawn where he had terrible outside posts in his last pair there. Gelding has talent, is in a winning barn (Cody Autry), and he takes the same drop as "Brannaman." 4-year-old by "Birdstone" has a pair of sharp local works since arriving from Arkansas.
4th pick: #7 (Tenkiller Kid) (5-2) - Colt is another visiting "claiming land" for the first time and he's raced evenly in his first three starts facing better. He should be competitive today, and Bejarano (32% when riding for trainer Hollendorfer) gets aboard for the first time.
