Top pick: #2 (THIS ONE'S FOR MEL) (5-2) - Speedy gelding has gone 11-2-3-2 overall and is 8-2-2-2 on the grass. In shape, and trainer Pete Miller will be dropping him down a bit. The horse to beat.
2nd pick: #5 (Persuasive Paul) (4-1) - He runs third back from a 7 1/2 month layoff and just missed last out at Santa Anita facing a bit weaker. Both her grass starts are excellent and colt is a win candidate.
3rd pick: #1 (Tree of Life) (5-1) - He has talent, but has been over-matched most of his career. Both his grass outings were positive and he's a late threat in this spot.
4th pick: #6 (Boyett) (3-1) - He finished a pace-setting second last out and was 2 1/2 lengths back of "Mel" on the wire. Nice effort was a career best, his first on the grass, and first off a 100 day layoff.
