Top pick: #5 (SERENE MELODY) (5-2) - Lightly-raced daughter of "Street Cry" has improved in all three starts since her debut and was beaten a neck here at this level on Nov. 10. Solid effort came following a nine week break and Lewis home-bred can break her maiden in this spot.
2nd pick: #4 (One Time Only) (3-1) - Lightly-raced filly by "Lemon Drop Kid" finished second here as a heavy favorite on Nov. 9 going 6-furlongs. Improving sort stretches out in distance and gets in "light" with apprentice Vandyke aboard. Win candidate is from a trainer (Tom Proctor) who's having a strong meet.
3rd pick: #2 (Nickels Wild) (7-2) - Home-bred has finished second in two straight, the latest coming here on Nov. 10 when she was a "head" better than "Melody." She has a flexible style, a nice post, and is in the three-horse win mix.
4th pick: #6 (Majestic Minister) (6-1) - No-speed type exits the same last race as both "Melody" and "Nickels" and filly had a very wide trip after breaking from a tough outside post. Working fine since, she runs third off a 6 1/2 month layoff, and Bejarano stays aboard. Price play.
