Top pick: #7 (HEYYOUCAN) (5-2) - He's one of two entered by trainer Pete Miller, and the pair gives him a strong hand in this contest. Speed/stalker tracked a fast pace and held to finish second at this level on Oct. 5th. Race was his first ever on real dirt and he's worked three times since. Gelding draws a nice outside post at this trip, and is the horse to beat.
2nd pick: #4 (Echo Zulu) (3-1) - The second of the Miller pair, he has excellent early speed and drops in class off a two month freshening. Win candidate, Cal-bred will be involved from gate-to-wire.
3rd pick: #5 (Battle Jet) (6-1) - Lightly raced colt moves up in class after finishing second here for a 422.5K tag on Oct. 18th. Stalker can factor, but needs to improve to threaten the top two picks.
4th pick: #3 (Takem by Surprise) (7-2) - Recent maiden winner did so here in gate-to-wire style racing for a $30K tag on Oct. 12th. Race was his first ever on real dirt, and he must be left under consideration.
