Top pick: #9 (MAGIC DADDY) (9-5) - The day's Best Bet, he has the best early speed and has faced tougher in all three starts. The Baffert barn drops him into a claimer for the first time and son of "Scat Daddy" is much the horse to beat.
nd pick: #3 (Mary Helen's Storm) (5-1) - He's racing back into shape and last out tired very late to finish fourth here at this level. He's improved in his last pair after coming off a year's layoff in late August and looks next best.
rd pick: #5 (America Rising) (4-1) - Speedy sort is from the same barn as "Storm" and is racing for the second time off a 13 month absence. Blinkers go in and his early foot makes him a threat in the exacta.
th pick: #11 (Grand Gambler) (8-1) - Three-year-old has finished second in two of his last three and stalker draws outside of the speed types. Can grab a share at a square price.
th pick: #4 (Capote's Royalty) (9-2) - He showed little when debuting at Santa Anita facing tougher Oct. 11 and is another dropping into a claimer for the first time. Working fast and he should run much better in this spot.
