It was her first race since late November and this 4-year-old kept only top company when going 9-3-1-4 in Europe. She has a flexible running style and has a solid shot at a square price.
2nd pick: #6 (Sea Calisi) (2-1) - It wouldn't be a grass stakes at Belmont without a runner from trainer Chad Brown. This French import has gone 6-3-1-1 since coming to No. America and is 4-2-1-1 on the Belmont turf. A Group 2 winner in France, she won the G1 Beyerly D Stakes at Arlington Park last August. Mare won a G2 here May 6 in her first race in six months and is an obvious win candidate. I could have easily made her the top selection.
3rd pick: #2 (Suffused) (5-1) - This mare was bred in England and has gone 9-4-3-1 since arriving in No. America during the early part of 2016. A hardened stakes performer, she finished second here to 'Sea Calisi' May 6 . Five-year-old loves this distance 7-3-3-0 and must be left in the mix.
4th pick: #3 (Apple Betty) (12-1) - Another Irish import, she was no match for either 'Sea Calisi' or 'Suffused' here May 6. However, it was her first race since Oct. 23 and she should move forward off of it.
