Top pick: #3 (SAMITAR) - English-bred filly kept only the best of company overseas and was a winner of the rich Irish 1000 Guineas (Group 1) at the Curragh in Ireland on May 27th. Daughter of "Rock of Gibraltar" missed by a neck in her North American debut at Saratoga July 25th in the (G2) Lake George and had all sorts of traffic issues that day. Working fast, lasix is added, and she's much the horse to beat.
2nd pick: #1 (Tannery) - Irish-import has a fine overall record on the grass (5-3-1-0) and has defeated males on several occasions. Before being sent here she was a winner of a Group 3 stakes at the Curragh on July 22nd and can the Time Form "figure" earned that day was very high. Dangerous runner.
3rd pick: #7 (Trophy Wife) - Lightly-raced Phipp's home-bred was a sharp winner over weaker on the Saratoga turf August 5th and has continued to work sharply since. Faces much tougher today, but she's clearly getting better.
