Speed/stalker is moving back to the turf after finishing third of eight, beaten just under 2-lengths going 6-furlongs on the Saratoga dirt Aug 27. He rallied to check in third on the local turf July 15. He draws a nice outside post for this 7-furlong trip and gets a slight edge.
2nd pick: #7 (Vischer Ferry) (7-2) - He's going dirt to turf and does so off a private trainer change to Jim Lawrence. Gelding is clearly better on the grass and finished a pace-setting third here going 8.5-furlongs at this level June 20. Win candidate.
3rd pick: #9 (Lotza Heat) (8-1) - He's cutting back in distance after a pair of poor efforts going 8.5-furlongs on the Saratoga grass. His best races have come on this course 4-0-2-1 and believe he's a threat at a big price.
4th pick: #3 (Secret Scholar) (10-1) - Lightly-raced and improving, 3-year-old has early speed and was competitive last out at Saratoga going 5.5-furlongs at this level. Working fast since, he should be involved from start-to-finish.
