Claimed that day for $40,000 by trainer Danny Gargan (23%), he moves him to the grass of almost an eight week freshening. Speed/stalker is bred for the surface and is the top pick.
2nd pick: #5 (Virga) (7-2) - Well bred gelding drops down after a wide trip facing tougher Aug 11 at Saratoga. He had just missed here at this distance July 2 and is a very strong win candidate.
3rd pick: #1 (Tracking Stock) (4-1) - From the barn of Chad Brown, this 4-year-old has gone 4-0-2-2 when racing at this $40K claiming price. Re rallied while wide to finish second Aug 5 at Saratoga and has worked three times since. In the mix.
4th pick: #12 (Gee Pea Ess) (6-1) - Speedy 4-year-old set a quick pace and held to finish third Aug 5 at Saratoga. He did not break all that well and had to rush up to attain the lead. He was only a 1/2 length behind 'Tracking Shot' that day and runs first off a Linda Rice claim (28%).
5th pick: #7 (Azarel) (15-1) - Longshot was bumped hard at the break, then ran both very wide and evenly in the same last race as both 'Tracking Stock' and 'Gee Pea Ess' Aug 5 at the Spa. He had just missed here at this level and distance in his previous start and can impact today at a big price.
