Top pick: #7 (WHYALWAYSME) (5-2) - Gelding takes a drop in class after a wide and even effort going a mile on the Saratoga lawn on Aug. 10th. He finished second here at this level and distance June 25th and stalker can take this with a repeat of that effort.
nd pick: #9 (Blue Chips Only) (8-1) - Lightly-raced gelding has fine early speed and appears to be nearing his best since returning from a 9 1/2 month layoff in June. Price play races with blinkers off and that's a 24% winning move by trainer Jeremiah Englehart.
rd pick: #4 (Bapu) (6-1) - Another that's lightly-raced, he comes off a career best effort at Saratoga Aug. 11. Racing at this level, he pressed a solid pace, bid turning for home, and continued on gamely to check in 4th of 12. Home bred by "Read the Footnotes" should be involved from start-to-finish.
th pick: #10 (Baskets) (6-1) - He's been freshened up for the past two months following a claim by trainer Dave Duggan on July 6th. Gelding has been competitive in both previous grass attempts and the new barn confidently doubles him up in price.
th pick: #5 (Bob and Jim) (10-1) - The field's most experienced maiden comes off a pair of good efforts. However, stretch runner would need a complete pace collapse for anything more than a minor award.
