Barn (28% second time out) switches him to the grass (27%), and this $850,000 son of 'Pioneer of the Nile' gets a slight edge.
2nd pick: #2 (A Thread of Blue) (3-1) - Son of 'Hard Sun' sold for $430,000 as a 2yo in training this past March. He finished a solid 2nd going a mile here in his grass debut Sept. 8, which was a huge move forward off his initial attempt sprinting on the Saratoga dirt Aug. 11. Win candidate.
3rd pick: #10 (Party With Friends) (5-1) - The second of the Chad Brown-trained pair, this colt ran evenly and wide after being bumped heavily when debuting in an 'off the turf' sprint July 28 at Saratoga. He has a fine series of works, is bred for the grass, and it's a plus that Javier Castellano stays aboard.
4th pick: #5 (Skychief) (6-1) - This colt ships back from Woodbine where he had a lot of trouble when beaten by nine lengths in a G1 stakes going a mile Sept. 16. He finished 3rd at Saratoga in his previous race Aug. 25 and should be involved from gate-to-wire.
