Top pick: #11 (SCHOOL YARD) (7-2) - Colt moves back to the turf after being eased at Aqueduct on a "muddy" surface that he did not care for April 26. Speed/stalker had finished second in three of his previous four starts on the grass, and is the horse to beat.
nd pick: #6 (Pilatus) (9-2) - Lightly raced gelding has been freshened up since early March at Gulfstream where he finished a distant second racing for a $50K tag on the grass. That was a career best and a repeat of it makes him a strong factor.
rd pick: #8 (Cashmere Cat) (6-1) - He's shown a bit of speed, and trainer Dale Romans makes some changes today that make this colt a contender. He drops him to a new low, moves him from dirt to turf, and stretches him out in distance.
th pick: #4 (Distant Thoughts) (10-1) - Gelding by "Lemon Drop Kid" is racing third back off a 6 1/2 month layoff, and will be dropping back down and moving from dirt to turf. Price play.
th pick: #5 (Love's Dreams) (12-1) - Bred for the grass, gelding raced evenly when debuting in a dirt sprint at Aqu. on March 10. Trainer Michelle Nevin (Rick Dutrow's former asst.) is having a strong year, and this 3yo by "Giant's Causeway" is worth tossing in your same race exotic bets.
