Top pick: #2 (DIXIE GEM) (10-1) - Long shot has finished close up in two straight at this level and distance. 'Long winded' filly draws a ground saving post and looks primed for a big effort. Since she'll be a big price, make sure you reverse your exactas.
nd pick: #6 (Midsummer Delight) (8-1) - She's one of several who are well bred and lightly raced. Daughter of grass runner 'Shakespeare' tired after racing close to the pace until mid-stretch racing at this level and distance June 13. She was 3 1/2 back of 'Dixie Gem' that day, but was racing off an 8-month layoff and most likely needed the start. Win candidate.
rd pick: #1 (Battle Axe) (3-1) - Un-raced since last Sept., she tired that day going a mile here as the favorite. Competitive in both starts prior to that, she's training steadily, draws the rail, has a speed/stalking style, and drops in class. Very dangerous if ready.
th pick: #5 (Esky) (8-1) - She's been fresahened up since May 20 when filly raced evenly here facing tougher. Well bred, she's working about average and is dropping in class. Can grab a share at a big price.
th pick: #4 (Quibbler) (2-1) - The probable favorite, she rallied to finish second here at this level going a mile June 10. She's worked fine since and will b e stretching out in distance. An obvious threat, but believe she's beatable at a short price.
