Top pick: #6 (BELIEVE YOU CAN) (4-1) - She's one of two entered by trainer Larry Jones and the pair race uncoupled. Filly defeated a large (14) and talented field when winning the 2012 "Kentucky Oaks"(G1), but did not run well here seven wells later in the "Mother Goose" stakes (G1) and did not race again until Feb. 2. She's won two of three since returning, is working fast for this, and her outside post gives her new rider (John Velazquez) some options. Another plus is that she won the G3 "Tempted" on this surface as a 2yo.
2nd pick: #1 (Joyful Victory) (7-5) - The second of the Jones pair, she's a real pro at this distance (9-5-2-1), and last out at Santa Anita she became a G1 winner when she went wire-to-wire when taking the "Santa Margarita"(G1). Speed/stalker has run well here in the past, and Rosie Napravnik" sticks with her instead of "Believe". Obvious win candidate and she completes a strong hand from Jones.
3rd pick: #2 (Tiz Miz Sue) (5-1) - Hard-hitter is another who likes this trip (15-6-5-3) and she'll be making her first start on this surface. Mare was probably best when finishing second in Oaklawn's "Apple Blossom"(G1) on April 12 and is in career best form. The faster the pace, the better her chances.
4th pick: #5 (Disposablepleasure) (6-1) - Grey filly has won both her 2013 starts in impressive fashion after returning from a 5 1/2 month layoff on March 17. Stalker continues to train smartly and she's (2-1-1-0) here in the past.
