Top pick: #4 (TOUCH THE MOON) (2-1) - Daughter of 'Malibu Moon' was bet down to favoritism when debuting here May 13 going 7-furlongs. $450K purchase looked the winner every step as she rated on the outside just off the pace, took over when asked, and drew away to win by 4 1/2 lengths. Trainer Todd Pletcher has worked her four times since, the latest pair of those being impressive bullets. She's stretching out in distance and may have a very bright future.
2nd pick: #3 (Equilateral) (4-1) - She's been sharp in both races at this level since coming off almost an 8-month layoff May 7. One-run type likes the local dirt 4-1-2-0, is working fast, and has a shot if 'Touch the Moon' doesn't repeat her debut effort.
3rd pick: #6 (Samantha Nicole) (7-2) - If you forgive her March 20 race at Gulfstream, she 'stumbled' at the break and was racing off a 7 1/2 month layoff, filly has gone 4-1-1-1. She has a speed/stalking style and daughter of 'Medaglia d'Oro" cost $700k back in 2012. In shape and 4-year-old has some sharp local works on view.
4th pick: #5 (Gasparilla Inn) (5-1) - Phipp's home bred ships back from Pimlico where she broke her maiden at this distance May 30 as the 7-10 favorite. Regally bred 4-year-old has worked well here since her Maryland score and may yet prove to be a useful runner.
