She really likes it on the Belmont turf at 5-2-3-0 and has checked in second in both starts at this 1 1/4 mile distance. I like her chances.
2nd pick: #3 (Viva Rafaela) (5-1) - The main speed, Brazilian bred is in career best form and is more than capable at this trip. Pletcher trained mare will be a square price and in this rather pace-less contest she's a threat at 5-1 or better.
3rd pick: #9 (Stephanie's Kitten) (8-1) - Strong finisher has won multiple "Graded" stakes and enters this off a pair of second-place finishes in G1 contests. No-speed type is working nicely and will be closing fast. Obvious win candidate.
4th pick: #7 (Alterite) (8-1) - French bred filly was a world class runner in her native land and won her North American debut here a bit over a year ago. Winless since, she fits with her best and has more speed than mos. A major player if she comes to run.
5th pick: #4 (Stratnaver) (4-1) - Strong closer was only a "neck' back of "Abaco" at Saratoga Aug. 23 in a solid effort. English bred mare is a bit below most with her best figures, but a repeat of her latest makes her a threat.
