Top pick: #5 (CIELO SOLEGGIATO) (7-2) - He drops to a new low and is making back-to-back starts for the first time. Home-bred by "Sky Mesa" has early speed and comes off a solid try facing a bit tougher on Aug. 21 at Saratoga.
2nd pick: #6 (Summer Shiner) (3-1) - Gelding takes a huge drop in price ($75,000 down to $16K) in his first start since March 17th. He's shown ability facing much tougher and could easily win this if ready.
3rd pick: #1 (Easy Reach) (6-1) - Speedy veteran has a pair of "jump" wins earlier this year on his resume, but is eligible for this maiden contest as they don't count in "flat" racing. Has the inside post, is in a good barn (Jack Fisher), and must be left in the mix.
4th pick: #3 (Moravitz) (10-1) - Colt ships back from Suffolk where he finished a distant third after a troubled start just five days ago. Race was switched to the main track annd trainer Dave Jacobson specializes in these quick turnarounds.
5th pick: #7 (Fiddler's Chico) (6-1) - His best starts have come locally (4-0-1-2) and this one-run type fits nicely with this group. Capable of impacting at a square price.
