Gelding broke his maiden in sparkling style at this distance in an 'off the turf' contest Aug 26 at Saratoga. It was his second start back from a 19.5 month layoff and it earned him the highest last out figure of this group. Four-year-old had finished second on the Saratoga lawn in his return to action July 22 and can win this with a repeat of either of those efforts.
2nd pick: #1 (Ordinaire) (3-1) - Three-year-old has shown steady improvement since coming off a nine month layoff May 14. Speed/stalker broke his maiden going seven furlongs here on the grass July 17. In his follow up start, home bred ran third at Saratoga at this level and distance Aug 11. He has the rail and should be involved from start to finish.
3rd pick: #6 (Rooftop View) (5-1) - Much improved lately, he missed by a 'nose' in a $100K stakes for fellow 3-year-olds New York breds on the Saratoga turf Aug 8. In his follow up race when facing older foes at this level Aug 27, he closed from far back to check in second of 12. Today's distance isn't an issue for him and he must be left in the win mix.
4th pick: #10 (Ode to the Hunt) (8-1) - No-speed type is making his ninth attempt at this level. He's racing back into shape following a half-year's absence and has been competitive in two of three since returning.
5th pick: #8 (Chang's Secret) (15-1) - Speed/stalker enters in good form, but this nine furlong trip isn't in his favor. Can grab a share at a big price with his best, but will need some pace breaks for anything more than a minor award.
