Only his second start, $450,000 son of 'Hard Spun' is working steadily since arriving here and trainer Jimmy Jerkens has Jose Ortiz aboard. The pair have won with 5 of 9 (56%) when teamed up over the past 16-months.
2nd pick: #6 (Any Questions) (6-1) - Keeneland shipper checked in a wide fourth there at this level going nine furlongs April 9. It was his second back off a half-year's absence and he made a strong middle move that afternoon. $300K purchase has a shot at a square price.
3rd pick: #8 (Carbon Data) (5-1) - One of two entered by Chad Brown and the pair race uncoupled. Four-year-old has been freshened up since March 19 when he missed by a 1/2 length at Gulfstream racing at this level going a bit shorter. Training fine and Castellano stays with him.
4th pick: #1 (ProvidenceRoad) (12-1) - Longshot has plenty of speed and breaks from the rail. Competitive in both dirt races this past winter at Gulfstream, he's stretching out in distance and is on the grass for the first time. Interesting that John Velazquez is taking the mount.
5th pick: #5 (Strong Side) (15-1) - Another with early speed, longshot missed by a 1/2 length the last time he was on the grass (Nov. 24 at Laurel). He's finished second in four straight on the dirt and may factor at a big price.
