Bet this race at Diamond SportsTop pick: #7 (GOTTA CURLIN) (4-1) - One of two entered by trainer Todd Pletcher, and the pair race uncoupled. Son of 'Curlin' cost $380,000 back in 2015 and is making only his second start. This 3yo chased the pace when debuting here last October and tired to finish 5th that afternoon going seven furlongs on a muddy track. Working nicely for his return, he gets a slight edge.
2nd pick: #2 (Copper Town) (3-1) - The second of the Pletcher duo, he's been on the sidelines since Feb. 25. WinStar home bred finished a pace-pressing 2nd that day going 5.5 furlongs at Gulfstream Park. He worked a bullet five furlongs on the Saratoga training track Sept. 2 and is an obvious win candidate.
3rd pick: #5 (Fuel the Bern) (7-2) - Home bred son of 'Bernardini' is working very fast for his first race since Nov. 27. Colt finished 3rd at Aqueduct that afternoon racing at this level and distance. Must be left in the mix.
4th pick: #1 (Greek Alphabet) (5-1) - Son of 'Medaglia d'Oro' cost the Godolphin operation $875,000 when he was a Keeneland Select Sale Yearlong back in Sept. of 2015. Very wide when debuting Aug. 5 at Saratoga, he's eligible to improve significantly in his second appearance.
