Top pick: #4 (ST SINCERE) (3-1) - Racing off almost a year's layoff at Saratoga on Aug. 3rd, this lightly raced 5yo broke on top, set a solid pace, and held gamely to finish second. Claimed that day by Dave Jacobson for $25K, he brings him back five weeks later at the purchase price. New barn is deadly (27%) first off the claim, and this gelding will be tough to beat with any improvement at all.
nd pick: #10 (Pentagram) (10-1) - Darley owned gelding by "Bernardini" comes off a career best when he raced very wide and checked-in fourth of 12, beaten almost six lengths racing at this tag at the "Spa" on Aug. 17th. Race was his first in almost 100 days, and he's a major player this afternoon.
rd pick: #11 (Metro) (5-1) - He "bobbled" at the start and was forced to race wide when racing at Saratoga against special weights on Aug. 3rd. It was his first since late Nov., and trainer J.P.Terranova III will drop this son of "Afleet Alex" into a claimer for the first time. Win candidate.
th pick: #9 (McIlroy) (7-2) - Claimed by Chad Brown on Feb. 15th at Gulfstream for $50K, he hasn't raced since and returns running for $25,000. No speed type has been competitive in all four turf races, and is a strong factor if ready.
th pick: #7 (Ducks Dock) (5-1) - Gelding by "Mineshaft" cost $350K, and debuted at Monmouth on Aug. 9th in an "off the turf" contest for $25K. He ran evenly that day, and trainer Todd Pletcher (37% second time out) has him entered on the grass again. Can factor, but this field drew pretty tough for the $25K tag.
