Bet this race at Diamond SportsTop pick: #4 (APURATE) (7-2) - Filly has been freshened up for just over 8 weeks and is cutting back in distance. She finished second going 8.5 furlongs at Saratoga in her grass debut Aug. 11, then tired there to check in fifth under similar conditions in her follow up. Trainer Todd Pletcher has her working steadily, and he wins at a 23% rate on the cut back in yardage.
nd pick: #2 (One Time Around) (12-1) - Longshot sold for $400,000 as a yearling in Sept. of 2018 so there are expectations. She's switching to the grass following a pair of poor trips in two Saratoga dirt sprints and has a trio of sharp works heading into this assignment.
rd pick: #5 (Karakontie Flyer) (6-1) - Heavily bet (6-5) debuting in a dirt sprint at Gulfstream Pak Sept. 8, she tired while wide to check in a distant third. She's worked three times at Belmont since arriving and is switching to the grass while stretching out in distance.
th pick: #12 (Paterson) (15-1) - Another longshot, this $210,000 daughter of 'Uncle Mo' showed nothing when debuting here in a dirt sprint July 3. Filly received betting support (4-1) and mst certainly has more ability than shown that day. Trainer Jeremiah Englehart wins at a 22% rate second time out, at a 23% clip off of long layoffs, and this filly is bred to like the grass.
th pick: #6 (Logic N Reason) (9-2) - Home bred stretches out a furlong after finishing an even third here at this level going 6 furlongs Sept. 19. She's shown ability in both starts and must be left in the mix.
