Top pick: #7 (DELTA OUTLAW) (3-1) - Son of 'Tiznow' cost $410K as a Keeneland sales yearling back in 2013. He's been competitive in all four starts and finished fourth here at this level and distance in late Sept. Colt has early speed and meets a sub par group for this condition. The horse to beat.
2nd pick: #1 (Ice Field) (5-1) - Nicely bred colt has been freshened up since a poor effort when debuting Feb 28 at Gulfstream. In his defense, he ran on a very sloppy surface that afternoon and has trained nicely since. Bred for grass success, trainer Kiaran McLaughlin is having his best year yet and he's gone 9 for 21 at this meet.
3rd pick: #2 (Salsa Dog) (4-1) - Speedy colt set a swift pace before tiring very late to finish a close up fourth when racing here at this level and distance April 29th. A career best, trainer Jeremiah Englehart removes this 3-year-old's blinkers in an attempt to get him to relax a bit. Factors today.
4th pick: #9 (Ackerman Road) (10-1) - He finished second in a promising debut here on the dirt in Oct. of 2013. However, he did not run again for almost 16 months and has yet to show much in a pair of return appearances. He has a new trainer (Bruce Levine) and he sends him to the turf for the first time.
