Bet this race at Diamond SportsTop pick: #6 (CAMPAIGN) (5-2) - Away since debuting at Saratoga Sept. 3, he made quite an impression that afternoon. Going seven furlongs at this level in an 'off the turf' contest, he had trouble getting hold of the sloppy surface, and dropped 20 lengths behind nearing the 1/4 pole. $675,000 son of 'Curlin' settled at that point and closed to check in a distant 2nd. He trained in Florida at the Palm Meadows Center for Chad Brown and worked a sharp 5/8ths here May 6. Colt can win this if ready.
2nd pick: #4 (Rugbyman) (2-1) - The morning line favorite, grey home bred by 'Tapit' rallied to finish 3rd of 12, beaten just under two lengths when debuting at this level going seven furlongs at Keeneland April 13. Trainer Graham Notion (19% second time out) stretches him out to a mile, and it's noted that Jose Ortiz is back on the re-ride. A win candidate.
3rd pick: #1 (Wisely) (10-1) - Colt ships from Gulfstream where he raced evenly and finished close up in a pair of two-turn turf races at this level. $150K purchase had traffic issues in both and enters off some sharp local works on the dirt since shipping North. Longshot looks set for a competitive effort today.
