Bet this race at Diamond SportsTop pick: #2 (SPITBALL) (7-2) - A NEW gelding, he's dropping into a claimer and switches from dirt to turf in his second attempt. He tired badly in his debut at Aqueduct Feb. 28, but is bred for the grass. He meets a very weak group here, and trainer Linda Rice has good numbers in all of the relevant categories.
2nd pick: #3 (Quid) (9-2) - One of two entered by Derek Ryan, and the pair race uncoupled. No speed type has made up ground in all four going longer and drops into a claimer here while shortening up in distance. A late threat.
3rd pick: #8 (Hostile Witness) (10-1) - This 3yo switches back to the turf in his first since March 14. He has some ability, and trainer Rudy Rodriguez had a winner the other day that looks a bit like this gelding.
4th pick: #5 (Masterio) (6-1) - The second of the Derek Ryan trained pair, he's rallied to finish 2nd in two of his last three when in with maidens. Much like his barn-mate, he lacks early speed and is cutting back in distance while moving up in class.
