Bet this race at Diamond SportsTop pick: #11 (JESS I AM) (7-2) - He enters off a career best here when racing at this level going a mile on the turf June 17. Three-year-old broke on top, set a quick pace, and lost by a 'nose' in the final two strides. It was his first start since April 30 and his connections shorten him up to seven furlongs. Zayat owned runner draws a fine outside post and gets the edge.
2nd pick: #9 (Rate for Me) (8-1) - Longshot is stretching out a furlong and does so with blinkers added. Gelding has a speed/stalking style, is well bred, and is in a solid barn (George Weaver). It's noted that leading rider Irad Ortiz Jr. is aboard for the first time.
3rd pick: #2 (River Echo) (3-1) - English bred import is training well above average on the training track at Saratoga for his No. American debut. He showed early speed in both starts last fall in his native country and runs today with lasix administered.
4th pick: #8 (Map Room) (6-1) - Freshened up since April 10, he ran well at Keeneland that day despite having a 'troubled' break from the gate. It was his turf debut and trainer Tom Proctor has him working above average at Fair Hill. It's a plus that John Velazquez is interested.
