Top pick: #9 (DISTORTED DREAM) (9-5) - Well-bred gelding was an easy "winner" here at this level and distance on Sep 12th, but was subsequently disqualified for a medication violation. 4yo by "Distorted Humor" followed that up with a near miss on Oct 24th and hasn't raced since. Excellent small barn (Mke Mariena) has him training fast for his return and he can take this if ready.
2nd pick: #2 (Mongol Boss) (4-1) - His trainer (Mike Maker) just won the trainer's title (in a runaway) at Keeneland and he sends this 3yo by "Street Boss" here after gelding finished a pace-setting 2nd when debuting in Lexington on April 13th. He'd trained fast on the Fair Grounds dirt prior to that and should be involved dfrom start-to-finish.
3rd pick: #4 (Oldwick) (3-1) - Debuting son of "Street Boss" cost a whopping $825K early in 2012 and is in the barn of Todd Pletcher (32% first out). Initially prepared at Palm Meadows, he has an impressive half-mile gate breeze here 6 days ago that should have him set for his first outing.
4th pick: #7 (Foggy Road) (10-1) - Longshot has raced evenly in both starts, but has caught "off" going in each. Son of "Medaglia d'Oro" is making back-to-back starts for the first time and could grab a share at a big price.
