Top pick: #4 (WEEKEND HIDEWAY) - The probable favorite, he was impressive when winning a $100K stakes over fellow state-breds at Saratoga on Sept. 30, then finished a pace chasing third here in the Belmont Futurity (G2) facing "open" company. Speed/stalker worked a bullet 3 furlongs here three days ago and is the horse to beat.
2nd pick: #2 (In Harm's Way) - When this home-bred broke his maiden here on July 15th he earned the highest "figure" that any of these has run on this surface. Last out he finished second as the heavy favorite at Finger Lakes in the $247K New York Breeders' Futurity and had a sharp work her on the 14th after returning.
3rd pick: #14 (Smooth Bert) - "Bert" went wire-to-wire going a mile here on a muddy track to break his maiden on Oct. 4. Improving sort and sometimes this outside post at this distance can be advantageous. Price play.
4th pick: #7 (Western Grit) - Lightly-raced gelding looked sharp when breaking his maiden here going 5.5 furlongs on Sept. 26. Reported to be a runner at Saratoga and this gelding is in one of the top barns in the country (Steve Asmussen). It's of note that Dominguez is aboard for the first time
