Top pick: #2 (QUIET ENDING) - Nice debut at Saratoga saw this home-bred by "Langfuhr" track while wide, and make a solid late bid to finish 2nd to a "much the best" winner. Filly has been given 7 weeks to recover by trainer Chris Clement and she has a trio of maintenance drills up at the Spa. Clement wins at a 22% 2nd time out and more importantly adds lasix for the first time ( a very strong 43% winning move by the barn). The horse to beat.
2nd pick: #1 (Stock Fund) - Filly was busy at the Saratoga meet racing three times. In her debut on August 4th she rallied mildly to finish 3rd, beaten two lengths by Quiet Ending, then ran poorly in a switched contest August 29th. Brought back 4 days later she ran 3rd in a two-turn contest at this level. Obviously is in racing shape and trainer Carlos Martin will cut her back in distance today.
3rd pick: #7 (Wholelottashakin) - Most of the horeses by first crop sire "Scat Daddy" have improved a ton when switched to the turf. This filly was scheduled to race on the gras at Saratoga in her debut Aug 21st, but still ran a big race when it was switched to a very sloppy main track. Dangerous runner.
