Top pick: #8 (UNPRECEDENTED) - $400,000 colt by Saint Liam hasn't raced since finishing second at Saratoga facing special weights on August 9th of 2010. In steady training for some time now his works are well above average and trainer Rick Dutrow will drop him into a claimer for the first time. Dutrow has his go to jockey (Ramon Dominguez) aboard and the pair is at a steady 28% rate when teamed-up over the past 18 months.
2nd pick: #3 (Syros) - Very lightly raced son of "Dynaformer" hasn't run since early March at Gulfstream where he had a "troubled" trip and was only beaten just under four lengths. In an excellent turf barn (Chris Clement) and this colt will also race in a claimer for the first time. Trainer wins at a 19% rate off of long layoffs, and is at 17% with this type of drop.
3rd pick: #1 (Smokin Star) - Gelded son of "Smoke Glacken" had a horrible trip at Saratoga July 29th and still managed to finish 6th of 11, beaten just a bit under seven lengths. Freshened up since, he's working steadily for this, has a new rider (John Velazquez), draws the hedge and is a serious factor at a nice price.
