Lightly-raced gelding has been freshened up since a sharp maiden win Aug 25 at Saratoga. It was his first for Rodriguez and stalker gets a slight edge in is first facing winners.
2nd pick: #8 (Kenyan) (9-2) - The second of the Rodriguez pair, he's racing first off a claim (a 30% winning move by the barn). Well bred 3-year-old broke his maiden Sept. 2 at Saratoga the day Rodriguez claimed him and he has him training steadily. The presence of Javier Castellano is noted.
3rd pick: #5 (Made of Steel) (6-1) - Speedy sort tired here facing tougher Sept. 10 in his first start since shipping up from Gulfstream Park. Claimed that day by Abby Adsit for $25K she brings him back well under the claimed price. His early speed makes him a serious win candidate.
4th pick: #1 (Devilish Grin) (8-1) - Sped/stalker just missed here at this level Sept. 24. It was his best since a win at Saratoga in late July of 2015 and he draws the rail. Can grab a share if his latest is repeatable.
5th pick: #2 (Zartax) (5-1) - Well bred gelding is racing first off a Brad Cox claim (25%). Lasix is added and he's cutting back in distance for his second back from a 10 week break.
