Top pick: #4 (MINX) (2-1) - Grey filly by "Tapit" has been freshened up since June 14th when she finished a pace-setting second here at this level going a mile on June 14th. 3-year-old is working fast for her return, cuts back in distance, and runs with blinkers on.
2nd pick: #1 (Hummingbird Hill) (8-1) - Another daughter of "Tapit," she's one of two entered by trainer Bill Mott and the pair race uncoupled. Filly cost $575,000 as a yearling and ran evenly here at this level going 8.5 furlongs on the grass when debuting on Sept. 14. Barn cuts her back in distance, moves her to the dirt, and she can factor at a square price.
3rd pick: #5 (Forever Road) (8-1) - Well-bred, improving, and trainer Carl Domino will race her on the dirt for the first time. Fits on "figures," and it's more than a bit interesting that John Velazquez is aboard for the first time.
4th pick: #6 (Winning Scoop) (12-1) - The second of the Mott pair, home-bred filly by "Bernardini" is working fast for this and is another going turf to dirt. She runs third off a 7 1/2 month layoff and will be a big price.
