Premium Pick

Top pick: #8 (CHISHOLM) (5-2) - Colt tired after chasing a very quick pace when debuting at Saratoga in a tough special weight contest on Aug. 3. On the sidelines since, he's working well for his return and trainer Todd Pletcher drops this $400K 2-year-old purchase down to run for a $40K tag. The horse to beat.

2nd pick: #5 (Reach for Yield) (7-2) - Lightly-raced son of "Curlin" was scratched out of yesterday's second on the grass to await this dirt affair. He has a bit of speed, drops to a new low, and trainer Chad Brown adds blinkers (a 29% winning angle).

3rd pick: #3 (Eight Cents) (10-1) - One-paced type has gone 9-0-3-2 to date and has finished second and third in a pair of starts at this meet. Consistent from a figure angle, he must be left in the mix.

4th pick: #1 (Ruby's Rocketman) (2-1) - Gelding is the morning line favorite and is racing off a two month break and for a new trainer (John Kimmel). Four-year-old has early speed, is working well, and is dropping into a claimer for the first time. A factor, but holds no real advantage and at a short price.
