Top pick: #7 (SUGAR BEACH) - Don't normally endorse maidens with this many starts, but she's proven that she can be competitive on this "deep" surface and 4-year-old has done her best work at this distance (4-0-2-1). 4-year-old raced evenly here on a sloppy track on May 16th in her first start in almost eight weeks and trainer Rodrigo Ubillo (who had a longshot winner here yeaterday) brings her back in eight days.
2nd pick: #1 (Islarama) - Nice debut five weeks ago at Pimlico saw her rally to finish second despite a "troubled" start and a very wide trip. Effort came against "open" special weight company and trainer Juan Vazquez ship her north to face fellow state-breds with a stretch-out in distance.
3rd pick: #3 (Sweet Kakes) - 4-year-old by "Roman Ruler" cost $115K and has proven to be a big disappoint up to now. Filly has been competitive in 3-of-5 appearances with her sup-par efforts coming on "off" tracks. She has a nice work five days ago and trainer Bruce Levine removes her blinkers after a two race experiment.
