Bet this race at Diamond SportsTop pick: #8 (GRAND BANKS) (8-1) - Longshot moves back in with fellow New York breds after missing by 2.5 lengths facing $75,000 'open' maiden claimers May 10. A career best, it was her first race since Dec. 3. It's noted that John Velazquez is getting aboard this price play for the first time.
2nd pick: #3 (Town Fair) (5-1) - Speedy filly has been freshened up since finishing a pace-setting second at this level April 14 at Aqueduct. Home bred by 'Speightstown' should be involved every step.
3rd pick: #1 (Silly Numbers) (6-1) - Another with early sped, she's been lightly-raced and is improving. She raced very wide when finishing 6.5 lengths in back of 'Town Fair' April 14, but was only beaten 2.5 lengths here May 17. Three-year-old has a ground saving post and must be left in the mix.
4th pick: #2 (Theatreintheround) (3-1) - The field's only debuting filly she cost $210,000 as a Saratoga Sales Yearling back in August of 2015. Training steadily for Chad Brown (20% first out) she meets a rather below average looking group for the level. Brown has Jose Ortiz aboard and they've won at a 38% rate (23 of 60) when teamed up over the past 17 months.
