Like many its importance has diminished, but today's small field has some interesting 3-year-olds. This colt is one of two entered by Chad Brown. $500K son of 'Hard Spun' has won both starts including an impressive win going a mile on a sloppy surface April 6 at Aqueduct. Working fast, he may be a talented one.
2nd pick: #1 (Master Plan) (5-2) - This colt hails from the barn of Todd Pletcher. Strong finisher ships back from the middle-east where he rallied late to finish a close up third in the $2,000,000 UAE Derby (Group 2) at Maydan race track March 25. A stakes winner in Florida prior to that and he's been working fast since returning.
3rd pick: #6 (Take Your Guns) (8-1) - The second of the Chad Brown pair, he's moving way up in class following an easy maiden win at this distance April 15 at Keeneland. Home bred will need to improve quite a bit to handle either or both of the top two selections.
4th pick: #3 (Meantime) (5-1) - Another who broke his maiden last out and he did so at Keeneland at this trip on a muddy track April 22. It earned him a nice figure and he must be left in the mix.
