It was his first off a four-month breaking following a claim by Rob Atras for today's $40K tag May 2. 3yo has the rail, and I give him a slight edge.
2nd pick: #2 (Bebeau) (8-1) - Longshot has been competitive in three of four on the dirt and is racing on the grass for the first time. He does so fresh off a Bruce Brown claim for $30,000 here Sept. 13. 3yo is bred to like the turf and is a threat at a big price.
3rd pick: #5 (Mr Mike) (7-2) - A NEW gelding, this $300K sophomore by 'Candy Ride' has been on the sidelines since March 10. He has some speed, is in a claimer for the first time, and trainer Tom Morley has Javier Castellano aboard.
4th pick: #4 (Duress) (5-1) - He's cutting back in distance after rallying to miss by two lengths at this tag going 8.5 furlongs Aug. 11 at Saratoga. He runs first off a rare claim by Tom Albertrani, and he has Jose Ortiz interested. A late threat.
