Bet this race at Diamond SportsTop pick: #12 (STRONG) (5-2) - Gelding has been freshened up since July 29 at Saratoga. He had a very rough trip that day racing at this level and distance, but had missed by only a 'neck' in his previous start at Monmouth. In the Pletcher barn, 3yo gets a slight edge.
2nd pick: #11 (Gio Niko) (4-1) - Speed/stalker moves back to the turf and steps up in class. He missed by a 'head' going nine furlongs on the Saratoga dirt Aug. 22nd and has been competitive in two of his previous efforts on the grass. His good gate speed should have him involved from gate-to-wire.
3rd pick: #9 (Salt Mine) (15-1) - Another who has good positional speed to utilize. Grey gelding has been on the sidelines since July 10 when he was never involved in an 'off the turf' contest at Monmouth. Working steadily, and $100K purchase can factor at a square price.
4th pick: #4 (Luckybuck Syndrome) (12-1) - He exits the same dirt race at Saratoga as 'Gio Niko.' Gelding was involved every step and was beat a long 'neck' while only a short 'head' behind that rival. Longshot possibilities.
