Bet this race at Diamond SportsTop pick: #3 (MAGNETIQUE) (4-1) - Filly tired after chasing the pace when debuting at Saratoga July 31. Trainer Todd Pletcher, 27% second-time out, has given her five weeks to recover and has worked her four times since. She has a better post, John Velazquez stays aboard, and I like her chances.
2nd pick: #2 (Adorable Maya) (9-2) - A home bred by 'Bernardini', she raced wide on a sloppy surface before rallying to check in 4th when debuting at this level Aug 21 at Saratoga. Filly worked here Sept. 5 and it's a plus that Jose Lezcano stays aboard.
3rd pick: #4 (Maru) (5-1) - Daughter of 'Competitive Edge' is one of four making their debuts. She stayed at Belmont during the 40-day meet at Saratoga and trainer Rudy Rodriguez breezed her here a half-dozen times since Aug. 2. She looks well prepared to factor in her initial attempt.
4th pick: #1 (Graphite Dutchess) (15-1) - Grey daughter of 'Palace Malice' broke poorly before rushing up and tiring badly debuting Aug. 7 at Saratoga. She sold for $165K this past April as a 2yo in training and has worked locally twice heading into this attempt. Think she will be competitive at big price with a trouble free beginning.
