Top pick: #2 (SOUTHERN SUNSHINE) (2-1) - The probable favorite, filly just failed when racing on the "Spa" grass going 5.5-furlongs at this level Aug. 24. It was her first ever on the turf, first on the east coast, and she racing off a trainer change to "Hall of Famer" Bill Mott. Speed/stalker cost $340K and can get her maiden win this afternoon.
nd pick: #10 (First Summation) (7-2) - Lightly-raced filly has finished third in all three starts and they've all come at this level sprinting on the grass. Unraced for 11 months, she has experience on this course and is a win candidate if ready.
rd pick: #1 (Ainteasybeinggreen) (12-1) - Home bred hasn't seen action since Aug. 23 of 2013 when she missed by a "neck" at Saratoga after setting a quick pace. Working nicely for her return, including a near bullet half-mile gate breeze here Sept. 8. A major factor if ready.
th pick: #8 (Gu Gu Beans) (6-1) - Filly has gone 5-0-3-2 since June 18th and all have come in turf sprints. Daughter of "Freud" has a flexible style and Castellano stays aboard.
th pick: #9 (Super City) (10-1) - She set a quick pace following a slow start and tired to check in five lengths back of "Southern Sunshine" when debuting at Saratgoa on Aug. 24. Working fine since and she could factor with normal second out improvement.
