Top pick: #7 (BOSTON STRONG) (2-1) - The probable favorite, he enters off a near miss here at this level going 6-furlongs on the turf May 2nd. It was his first race since Nov 15, a career best overall, and the extra furlong he travels today is in his favor. Working fine for this and he's the horse to beat.
2nd pick: #10 (Irish Jade) (8-1) - Long shot rallied to finish third here at this level going 8.5-furlongs April 24th. It was his first in two months after spending the winter at Tampa Bay Downs. Can factor if able to stay a bit closer early on.
3rd pick: #6 (Chasintheblues) (3-1) - Clearly the main speed, he exits the same May 2nd race as 'Boston Strong.' Racing off a 10-month layoff, he broke sharply, set a fast pace, and tired only a bit in the final 1/16th to finish a close up third. Speedy 5-year-old should be involved every step.
4th pick: #1a (Secured Position) (10-1) - Very lightly-raced, he returns a NEW gelding for his first start since early August. Competitive in both starts last year as a 2-year-old, he has early speed and has been training at Monmouth for his comebacker. Bred for the grass, he's racing on it for the first time.
