Top pick: #7 (SALTINE WARRIOR) (5-2) - The probable favorite, he chased, bid to a short lead, then tired late to finish second here at this level and distance on May 4th. It was his first since Dec. 18 and he had a wide trio from a tough outside post in that return effort. Gelding draws better, worked on May 25th, and is the horse to beat.
nd pick: #1 (Flat Leaver) (6-1) - Home-bred by "Flatter" raced evenly when debuting at this level sprinting on the Aqu. dirt April 26th. Working fast since, blinkers go on and trainer Mike Hushion moves him to the turf. Win candidate.
rd pick: #6 (Shinnecock bay) (8-1) - Grey gelding by "Two Punch" rallied to finish fourth in the same May 4th contest that "Saltine" exits. It was his first on the grass, a career best, and he's worked nicely since.
th pick: #5 (Bajan Summer) (7-2) - He showed nothing when debuting at Aqu. in early November going 7-furlongs on the dirt. Bred for the grass, 4-year-old by "Speightstown" had a sharp half-mile drill five days ago and should be competitive in this spot.
th pick: #12 (Junger) (12-1) - Speedy colt just failed here at this level and distance in late Sept., but has not been as sharp in his five other appearances. He has early speed and may be at his best off a 6 1/2 month layoff.
