Bet this race at Diamond SportsTop pick: #5 (TRY FLYING) (8-5) - The morning line favorite, he's racing first off a Dave Jacobson claim (16%). He's dropping this well bred speed/stalker down in class off the barn switch which is a familiar move by NYRA's leading trainer in wins for the past three years. Nicely spotted and Jacobson has leading rider Jose Ortiz aboard.
2nd pick: #3 (Interior Secretary) (9-2) - Gelding tired while racing wide going a mile here at this level May 11. It was a good effort and trainer Gary Contessa brings him back quickly while shortening him up in distance. Irad Ortiz Jr. is aloft for the first time.
3rd pick: #4 (Nicholson) (5-1) - Five-year-old chased and held to finish a very distant second here at this level going seven furlongs May 1. It was his third back off a seven week break and he's now been competitive in four of five starts at Belmont. The faster the pace, the better his prospects.
4th pick: #8 (Elcinico) (10-1) - No-speed type was only a 1/2 length behind 'Nicholson' last out but only passed some very tired runners to do so. In his prior race 4-year-old was 6.5 lengths in back of 'Try Flying,' so unless he improves dramatically, a minor award is his ceiling.
