Top pick: #3 (DUSK TO DAWN) (7-2) - Broman home-bred by "Malibu Moon" was bet heavily when debuting at Aqueduct April 18th. He was involved in a speed-duel through quick fractions and had to race between horses until tiring in the final furlong. He's worked fast since, presumably with the blinkers on that trainer Mike Hushion adds this afternoon.
nd pick: #8 (Thug Daddy) (6-1) - His trainer (Gary Contessa) is off to an excellent start at this meet and this son of "Scat Daddy" is brought back quickly (12 days) for this attempt. $40K 2-year-old purchase ran evenly in that turf sprint and did so from a very difficult post (12th of 12). He also broke "outward" so he had legitimate excuses. Race was his first 8 1/2 months and colt is a win candidate at a square price.
rd pick: #1 (Greg's Intuition) (5-1) - Lightly-raced gelding has some early speed and ships back from his home-base of Philly Park where he worked a bullet half-mile (best of 47) on the morning of April 28th. He has the rail and will be sent hard at the break.
th pick: #2 (Hampden Fiveone) (4-1) - He's finished second in two of five dirt starts and last out ran both wide and evenly at this level on March 26th at Aqueduct. Three-year-old has a better post this afternoon and is running second off an eight week freshening.
th pick: #9 (Curious Cal) (15-1) - Longshot raced evenly after leaping in the air when debuting in late January. He took a bit of betting action that day and has been working nicely here for his return. Lasix is added and this gelding by the speedy "Cowboy Cal" may factor at a big price.
