Top pick: #1 (NO SATIS ACTION) (3-1) - Mare ships up from Pimlico with a superb record in shorter grass sprints (16-7-4-3), and is in one of the best "claiming" barns in the mid-Atlantic region (Hugh McMahon). One run type moves up in class, draws a ground saving post, and should get a fast and/or contested pace to rally into.
2nd pick: #7 (Ballistic Sue) (5-2) - Mare is the main speed whenever she runs, and draws a nice outside post at this six furlong trip to "gun" from. Daughter of "City Zip" is two for tw0 on this surface facing weaker, and is training nicely for this attempt.
3rd pick: #5 (Sweet and Lovely) (5-1) - Stakes placed last year at Saratoga, trainer Ian Wilkes may have that upcoming meet in mind with this filly by "Street Cry." Last out here she rallied to miss by a length racing at this level going 8.5 furlongs on June 26th, and Wilkes brings her back quickly and shortens her up in distance.
4th pick: #2 (Roman Invader) (7-2) - Veteran mare raced evenly at this level going 8.5 furlongs on June 2nd in her first back from a pair of layoffs. Claimed that day record breaking leading trainer at this meet (Dave Jacobson), he brings her back six weeks later at the purchase price and cuts her back in distance. New man wins at a 27% rate first off the claim.
