Bet this race at Diamond SportsTop pick: #1 (MILITIA MAN) (3-1) - He's one of two entered by trainer Chad Brown and the pair race uncoupled. A $400,000 son of 'Broken Vow', he rallied while extremely wide to finish fourth when debuting at this level going a mile at Gulfstream Park March 10. He had a difficult post (11 of 12), moves to the rail, is working fast, and Brown wins at a 31% rate second time out. This 3yo gets a slight edge.
2nd pick: #3 (Chantry Flats) (5-2) - The morning line and probable favorite, he's finished second in three straight starts and did so going 9 furlongs April 7 at Aqueduct. Speed/stalker was racing off a 4.5 month layoff that afternoon and is an obvious strong win candidate.
3rd pick: #7 (Pioneer Dancer) (7-2) - The second of the Brown trained pair, he's finished third in both starts. His latest saw him almost 4 lengths behind 'Chantry Flats' April 7 at Aqueduct. He's worked fast twice since and this $340,000 purchase has plenty of room for upside.
4th pick: #5 (No Mans Land) (9-2) - A 5yo gelding by 'Lemon Drop Kid' , he's been on the sidelines since Oct. 25. Competitive in all five starts last year, one-run type is capable of getting a share if ready, but at his age there is little room for improvement.
