Top pick: #10 (LASSO) (3-1) - He enters this off a rallying second-place finish here on May 17th going 6 furlongs at this level. The race was his first in five months and it's nice to see trainer Chris Clement bring him back quickly for this attempt. Gelding draws a nice outside post, goes an extra furlong, and has a solid shot at upsetting the presumed heavy favorite (No. 1 Rugged).
2nd pick: #1 (Rugged) (9-5) - He just missed here at this distance when facing special weights on May 17th in his first on the grass and first since debuting at saratoga on Aug. 11. Darley bred and owned, his trainer (Kiaran Mclaughlin) has been "on fire" here the past two weeks. Obvious win candidate at a short price and it would have been easy to make him the top pick. View the pair as equals.
3rd pick: #9 (Tapulous) (5-1) - Grey son of "Tapit" has good early speed and comes off a sharp second-place finish here on May 17th going a mile on the dirt. He's worked fast since and his connections move him to the grass and cut him back a furlong.
4th pick: #6 (Mr Anonymity) (6-1) - He rallied strongly to finish a close up fourth in the same May 17th race as "Rugged," and was less than a length behind that rival on the wire. Race was his first on the grass and first in blinkers.
